Setting out turns a design into reality. MatMap’s engineering surveyors take your approved drawings and transfer them accurately onto the ground: building grids, foundations, piles, roads, kerbs and drainage, all positioned to the correct coordinates and levels. Getting this right first time protects your programme, avoids costly rework and gives your groundworks and frame contractors complete confidence.
What we set out
- Building corners, gridlines and offset pegs
- Pile positions and pile cap levels
- Foundations, slabs and holding-down bolts
- Roads, kerb lines, footpaths and car parks
- Drainage runs, manholes and invert levels
- Earthworks profiles, batter rails and formation levels
- Steel frame, column and wall line checks
Our approach
We begin by checking the design data for errors and conflicts. Then we establish or verify a reliable site control network. Setting out is carried out with robotic total stations and GNSS, with precise levels for vertical control. Every point is checked independently before we hand it over.
We can provide setting out as one-off visits or as a site engineer service over the life of a project. As works progress we can also carry out as-built surveys to verify that construction matches the design.
What you receive
- Clearly marked pegs, nails, profiles and paint marks on site
- Setting out records and coordinate schedules
- Check survey reports showing tolerances achieved
- Control station schedules for your site team
Who we work with
We set out sites for main contractors, groundworkers, housebuilders, steel fabricators and developers in the construction, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors. Projects range from single dwellings to commercial units and industrial facilities.
